In the Czech Republic Brno is a district. It is known for its modernist buildings, such as the restored Villa Tugendhat which was completed by architect Mies van der Rohe in 1930. The medieval Špilberk Castle houses a museum of the area, gardens, and an old jail with vaulted tunnels. St. Peter and Paul Cathedral has baroque altars, a statue of the Madonna and Child from the 14th century and views of the city from its steeple.
Brno's worth a day, or two. There's enough to do a great weekend trip inside and around the city. Since it's fairly close to Prague, Wien, and Bratislava, you can easily visit Brno on a trip to any of those beautiful cities.
Brno is the Czech Republic's second largest City. It is also one of the most fascinating cities in the world, with its beautiful architecture, long history, many green leisure areas and an international atmosphere.
Brno is Moravia's cultural center, home to many famous Moravian institutions, for example. Moravian Gallery, Moravian Museum, Brno National Theatre, and City Theatre Brno. It is a city with a long history of motor racing, enormous exhibitions and trade fairs, and a vibrant university town.
The most famous sites in Brno include the Brno Underground, a maze of underground cellars that contains the second largest ossuary in Europe (after the Paris Catacombs), the two (or three) Brno castles, the Petrov Cathedral.
Brno has lost its capital city status, but it still functions as a "cosmopolitan" capital, with a wide range of cultural activities, bars, pubs, and many excellent museums and theatres. There are also two notable theaters in Brno, Reduta Theater is Central Europe's oldest theater house, and Mahen Theater is Europe's first theater.
Czech food focuses primarily on pork, dumplings and potatoes. My favorite Czech is fried cheese, available at several restaurants and fast-food stands. Throughout Czech cuisine, soups play an important role, because it is almost always the role of lunch.
The popular Brno beer is Starobrno, and kofola is a popular non-alcoholic drink. They both have to be tasted in a draught shape! Although Czechs are renowned for their love of beer, love is mostly based on pale beer, dark beer (černé pivo) here is sweet and not often drunk. There are quite a few small breweries in the area, including a small private brewery called Pegas
The place where the boat lands are the gateway to the Brno Dam. Located near to the Brno public transportation tram and bus stations, this hotel provides a large parking area and several restaurant and refreshment stand. It is also the symbolic place to determine whether to go to either the right or left shore of the Brno dam lake.

Driving around with a rental car in the city of Brno Airport can be a challenge but not impossible. It's a nice way to get around but we advise you to look at the laws of local traffic because they may differ from what you're used to doing. Bear in mind that traffic can be thick in rush hour, so it can take longer to reach your destination.
